MKWAWA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION


Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) is located in Iringa Municipality about 3 KM from the municipal center. MUCE was established as a Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) on the 1st of September 2005 by upgrading the former Mkwawa High School, in response to the growing demand of secondary school teachers.

1. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry prepares students for careers as professional chemists and serves as a foundation for careers in other fields such as biology and medicine. The curriculum offers a thorough fundamental knowledge of the major fields of chemistry, covering the general areas of inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, plus many more specialized courses including analytical, nuclear, and biophysical chemistry and chemical biology

2. Bachelor of Education in Science

A Bachelor of Education in Science is a degree awarded to students who complete the three years course of study in the field of science (major in biology, chemistry, physics, and math) and major in Educational courses. This degree is designed to produce professionally qualified teachers who will be competent in teaching science subjects in Secondary Schools and middle level colleges.

3. Bachelor of Education in Arts

A Bachelor of Arts in Education is a degree program that prepares students to teach in a arts subjects area. It may also be of interest to those who want to explore educational pedagogy and progressive education. Some programs may include courses in Kiswahili, language, literature, Econonomics, Geography, Political Science, Development Studies, and History. A Bachelor of Arts is generally more flexible and less specialized than a Bachelor of Science.

4. Bachelor of Science with Education

Bachelor of Science with Education is a degree awarded to students who complete the three year course of study in the field of science (major in biology, chemistry, physics, and math) with major Educational courses. It is a three-year degree that includes an in-depth study of both science and teaching science to either elementary, middle, or high school students

5. Bachelor of Arts in Education

The Bachelor of Arts in Education degree programme prepares students for entry-level positions in elementary or secondary art education. Students will learn how to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of students from various backgrounds and ability levels. The programme can be pursued as a Regular Course or as a Distance Education Course with the same duration unless specified by the institute.

6. Master of Science with Education

The Masters of Arts in Education degree programme prepares students for entry-level positions in elementary or secondary art education. Students will learn how to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of students from various backgrounds and ability levels. The programme can be pursued as a Regular Course or as a Distance Education Course with the same duration unless specified by the institute.

7. Master of Science in Mathematical Modeling

A Master of Science in Mathematical Modeling is a graduate degree program that focuses on the application of mathematical techniques and tools to model and analyze complex systems in various fields. This program equips students with advanced knowledge of mathematical concepts, computational methods, and statistical analysis, enabling them to develop mathematical models that represent real-world phenomena.

Over 1,400 prospective students attended this year’s event, making it the largest welcome party MUCE has hosted to date. From their arrival on Monday afternoon to their departure on Friday, future MUCE students participated in a variety of events, including an extracurricular bazaar, and campus tours.

Hon. Dr. John P. Magufuli

The fifth President of United Republic of Tanzania.

John Pombe Joseph Magufuli was the fifth president of Tanzania, serving from 2015 until his death in 2021. He served as Minister of Works, Transport and Communications from 2000 to 2005 and 2010 to 2015 and was chairman of the Southern African Development Community from 2019 to 2020.
